Finally, the Friends Finale is Upon Us

It seems like we've been seeing adds for this moment for the past two years. But it is actually here, the final new Friends episode is set to air tonight after a one hour clip show recapping it's ten seasons on NBC. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the show, but I really enjoyed the first few seasons, then interest waned only to be resurrected over the past couple of years. Like any long running show it has gone through ups and downs, repeating itself, trips into melodrama, and it is going out on a sort of high-note.

The biggest problem with this season has been the scarcity of new episodes. I believe there have been only like 16-18 episodes this season as opposed to the more typical 22-24 episodes. This translated to an over abundance of repeats. That has been the biggest let down, with your final season, you would think that they would want to put out as much new material as they could, sadly that hasn't been the case here. Anyway, I do plan on watching the finale, just not tonight. Thursday is reserved for WWE: Smackdown, so I will be taping the episode and watching it tomorrow. On a side note, this last episode has already been slated for a DVD release on it's own, more surprisingly it will be out this coming Tuesday May 11th. Never before have I seen something released so quickly.

In minor preparations for this "event", I have been watching the Best of Friends Seasons 1-4 this week. Each disk has 5 episodes from that season that the producers deemed to be tops of that season. What surprised me the most while rewatching these episodes, besides remembering how clever they were, was how many hints were dropped and the audience teased with a relationship between Monica and Chandler. It was almost more blatant than the Ross/Rachel romance. Anyway, I hope the finale pays off and we don't get cheated. Plus, I hope we get decent seeds placed for Matt LeBlanc's spinoff Joey, which is scheduled to takeover the Friends slot next year.
