DVD Pick of the Week: Enter the Dragon

This was an easy week to choose a pick even though there are a lot of strong titles to choose from. The choice is Enter the Dragon: Special Edition. The latest in a great series of 2 disk special editions, one of three released this week, is arguably the greatest martial arts film of all time, the movie that launched Bruce Lee to worldwide stardom, and was the last one to be completed by the creator if jeet kun do.

I already own this movie on DVD, but this release is a no brainer for the dreaded double-dip. It features a remastered image, which I hear is beautiful, and a number of documentaries, including the previously released feature length Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey which takes a look at his unfinished feature, Game of Death.

All I can really say is, run, don't walk, to get this set!

There are other strong releases this week such as the other 2 Warner Bros. Special Edition releases, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and The Great Escape. Also out this week is Farscape Vol. 4.4, one release to go before this whole series is available on disk, I am planning a column on this series. Criterion also has some good releases this week with a collection of The Samurai Trilogy and The Testament of Dr. Mabuse. We also have some highly anticipated releases from Disney, the latest wave of Walt Disney Treasures. They are: Mickey Mouse in Living Color Vol. 2, The Chronological Donald Vol. 1, On the Frontlines, and Tomorrowland.

That's all for now on the new release front.
