It is time for the inaugural weekly top ten list. Without further ado...
Top Ten 6/30/04: Solo Music Artists
10. Danzig: I know he puts albums out underneath the Danzig name, but there is really no doubt that he is the guy here. Dark music with a haunting voice.
9. Frank Sinatra: How can you go wrong with ol Blue Eyes? One of the greatest singers ever.
8. Alice Cooper: Shock rock before there was shock rock, paved the way for future showmans like Marilyn Manson. Without his antics we wouldn't have shock today, not to mention some great rock songs.
7. Eric Clapton: One of the greatest guitar players of all time. No one can deny the greatness here.
6. Rob Zombie: Metal with a tinge of horror. Definitely a unique presence combining his love of music and his love of horror movies.
5. Jimi Hendrix: Arguably the greatest guitar player who ever lived. Died before his time, imagine if he hadn't died, just how far could he have gone?
4. Steve Vai: My favorite guitar player, not afraid to be experimental, but has all the chops to back it up.
3. Ozzy Osbourne: Although he has become a mockery of his past greatness, he has still produced some of the greatest metal albums ever.
2. David Bowie: I've had Space Oddity stuck in my head all day. I was a late convert, but know I'm hooked for life. One of the most creative artists to ever create music, he has retained his integrity and powerful voice for over 30 years, producing classic music all the way.
1. Warren Zevon: Another artist I was late to the party with. One of the greatest song writers I have ever heard, he is able to tell entire stories in a 3 minute song. He was funny, clever, somber, romantic, so many emotions rolled into one. The first star whose death affected me emotionally. Best known for Werewolves of London, you owe it to yourself to listen to more of his music. Sadly he left this plane last year after succumbing to lung cancer.

There are a lot of good artists out there, but most of the ones I like are either in a band, or have only had a brief solo career. I tried to pick artists that have had a decent amount of solo material, or will presumably have a decent collection.

Disclaimer: All lists can change at any time, for any reason, without notice. I change my mind from time to time, based on mood, sanity, tastes whatever. All I'm really saying is don't hold me to this list as things change. Enjoy!
