Movie Quick Take: Shrek 2
Shrek 2. The rare sequel that stands at the same level and possibly higher than the original. This movie had me in tears I was laughing so hard at times. This time around we follow Shrek and Fiona on their way to meet Fiona's parents. Of course them being ogre's doesn't thrill the parents and this gives way to comedy and the introduction of a great new character while still having a solid story to entertain the kids and adults alike. It may be sad to say, but Eddie Murphy gives one of his best performances of the past few years as the voice of Donkey, his performance has a life and freedom that Murphy himself hasn't had onscreen in years. We also get Antonio Banderas as the voice of Puss n Boots, one of the funniest creations in years, the pairing of that accent and the attitude of a cat is great. All I can say is see this movie, it is well deserving of the high box-office totals it is pulling in.
