New Releases

This week's pick was easy, Kill Bill Vol. 2. To say I love this film, along with the first, is an understatement. What is essentially a simple tale of revenge, becomes so much more in Tarantino's capable hands. With great performances from Uma Thurman and Oscar worthy David Carradine, we get a tale of emotional depth mixed in with a bit of the old ultra violence. I think one of the best aspects is how it stands on its own from Volume 1. You don't need to have seen it to get a complete and satisfying movie. Although, it is amazing in how it builds on and expands the elements laid down in the first. Tarantino's use of dialogue is one of the things that sets him apart from the majority of filmmakers. Everything means something, not a word is wasted, yet not all of it has strictly to do with the plot, the characters are just plain interesting to listen to. I know this sounds a bit like a review, and that isn't my focus in this context, but it is such an amazing film that you owe it to yourself not to let this one slip by. Of course, I loved the first as well, but this brings the whole world into focus, and I cannot wait to see what the epic is like once it is reintegrated back into one film.

There are a few other releases coming out this week that I am interested in:
