Slow week, only two new releases to check out. I've read good things about one of them, and nothing good about the other. Still, I want to see both.
Cellular. This is the one that I have seen good reviews for, including a 3.5 star review from Roger Ebert. The story, from what I can glean from the trailers, is that a woman is held captive by some guys with guns, in desperation she randomly dials a phone number, and gets ahold of a guy on a cell phone who must know find her. The situation looks completely ridiculous, but I like the idea, and it looks like it could be good. It stars Kim Basinger, Chris Evans, Jason Statham, and William H. Macy.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse. This, I really don't expect to be any good, especially after seeing those rather goofy trailers. But, I do expect it to be fun. I enjiyed the first one, and this looks to be more of the same, only amped up. The only thing that disappoints me is that the focus is shifting away from horror, and moving more towards action. Anyway, this one brings back Milla Jovovich's Alice from the first film to lead some more zombie fodder against the forces of the Umbrella Corporation.
Rather weak release day, but we are now a mere one week away from a film I have been highly anticipating: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
