Pick of the Week

This week truly was tough to choose my pick of the week, but I finally decided to go with one of the few titles I will actually be able to purchase this week: Clerks X: 10th Anniversary Edition. I love this movie, it is an absolute riot. This marked Kevin Smith's introduction to the film world. It is a peek into the life of, you guessed it, a clerk. I think it helps to have worked as a clerk at some point, and to have a twisted sense of humor.

This is a 3 disk set which includes both the theatrical release and the original cut which is about 10 minutes longer. It also has a couple of commentaries, outtakes, documentaries, and all sorts of fun stuff. I haven't gotten to watch any of it yet, but it is a great film showcasing Smith's unique sensibilities. Not too side track too much, but it seems as if Smith is a love him or hate him type of personality. His directing style is almost non-existent, he puts the camera in place and that's it, where he shines is in his writing, oh what wonderful dialogue, some of it does fall flat. Also, some great casting choices. For off-beat humor fans, or current/former clerks, this is a must see!

The other nominees and notable releases:

A lot of good looking titles this week, and this fall is shaping up to have a huge number of high profile releases to look forward to. Good luck keeping up with them!
