Pick of the Week

This is probably the easiest pick I will ever have to make. This week's top pick is none other than the Star Wars Trilogy. One the greatest film series of all time is finally available on DVD. Word of warning for the purists, this is not the original theatrical release, it is not even the same as the 1997 Special Editions. What it is, is the SE's that have been further tweaked. Some of the changes are good, some are bad, a lot probably won't even be noticed. Also, as a word of warning, avoid any forum threads concerning Star Wars, they are hateful, bitter places. I have long since gave up on Lucas, he lost his mind a long time ago.

Anyway, on a better note, Star Wars is finally here. I am going to be happy with, by many accounts, is a gorgeous set. I have waited years to see them this good. I have my set here and will be popping it in later this evening. What else can I say? It's Star Wars, it's here, it's time to enjoy.

There are a few other releases worth checking out this week:
  • Mean Girls. An enjoyable, smartly written, well acted teen comedy, not something we usually get. Starring Lindsay Lohan, and costars Tina Fey.
  • Coffee & Cigarettes. Jim Jarmusch's experimental series of short conversation films.
  • Fly Jefferson Airplane. An excellent collection of performances and interview footage.
  • Twenty Bucks. A movie I remember seeing a long time ago about the travels of a twenty dollar bill.
  • The Demon. A Japanese suspense thriller, description looks interesting.
  • Zero Focus. Same director as The Demon, a suspense tale of a woman with a dark secret.

On the music side, 1 release of interest:
