New Releases for 10/1/04

This is going to be a b abbreviated post, I have a busy night ahead of me. Here's a look at the new releases coming out this weekend.

Code 46. I believe this has opened at other places prior to this, but is making it's way to my area this week. It stars Tim Robbins as an investigator who has a forbidden romance with a woman who forges travel documents. It is a science fiction film based on genetic manipulation with the chosen living in wealth and others outside of the protected cities, plus you need documents to move around and they are worth a lot. It looks interesting, a little smarter than the typical sci-fi fare.

Ladder 49. John Travolta and Joaquin Phoenix star in this drama about firefighters in NYC. The trailers make it look like a typical action oriented film, but I have heard that it is more than that, I hope so.

Shark Tale. This is guaranteed to be the number one movie this weekend and DreamWorks answer to Finding Nemo. It looks like it may be good, although I am looking more forward to The Incredibles as far as cg films go this fall. This has a good voice cast which is a good selling point, including Will Smith, Robert DeNiro, Martin Scorsese, Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, and Renee Zellweger.

That's it for this week!
