Movie Quick Takes:Head On

Head On. This was quite an experience, whether you like it or hate it, you will walk out of the theater with some sort of reaction. The story revolves around two Turkish people living in Germany, Cahit a man around fortyish and Sibil, a young woman around twenty. They meet in a psych clinic after they have each attempted suicide. Soon they are married, more for convenience than anything else. Soon there faked feelings take on very real meaning with disastrous results. This is a dark film about two very damaged people on a collision course with themselves. It is a moving film which besides the relationship between the leads shows me, as an American, another culture and then a subculture within that. Wonderful film. Recommended.
