As reported at Ain't it Cool News, director George Cosmatos has died, he was 64 years old.
He directed such films as the Sylvestor Stallone vehicles Rambo: First Blood Part II (I've always had problems with that title) and Cobra. He last directed in 1997 when the Charlie Sheen starring Shadow Conspiracy was released.
In my mind he will always be remembered as the director who gave us Tombstone, a great western actioner about the shoot out at the OK Corral. It starred Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer, in one of his finest performances.
He was also behind the camera for the science fiction horror film Leviathan starring Peter Weller.
He was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, and had lost his sight last year due to a botched surgery. He is survived by his son Panos.

Hey, some movies you may want to check out for your "weird/strange" movie list (which I found woefully lacking).
-Uzumaki (Spiral): Weird japanese horror film about the spiral shape.
-Abres Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes): The Spanish original that Vanilla Sky was based on. Much better.
-Basket Case: Guy walks around with his former siamese twin mutant brother in a basket, killing the people that seperated them.
-Wild Zero: Japanese zombie movie featuring zombies in love, transvestites, and featuring real life rock band "Guitar Wolf" as the voice of god. The DVD includes a drinking game.
-The Crippled Masters: One has his arms cut off. One has his legs cut off. But together-- they are one. Featuring two guys who really don't have their arms or legs.
-Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn: Come on. He fights his own hand.
-Repo Man: The movie with everything: aliens, cult members, conspiracy, and a flying glowing car.
-Pink Flamingos: A transexual that eats dog poop. For real.
-Eraserhead: Much stranger than Mullholland Drive.
-Tetsuo The Iron Man: A guy turns into metal.
There's more, but most of these are much more strange than any on your list.
