The Week That Was.....A Viewer's Diary: 3/27-4/2

Welcome to the second edition of "The Week That Was..." I know many of you probably didn't see the initial column, but maybe you will see this one, either way, I hope you enjoy. Anyway, I made a tactical error this week in waiting to start putting this together until late in the week, when I should have been doing it as I went along, and my short MTV generation attention span's memories have started to fade regarding some of the shows I watched earlier in the week, and in some cases have been completely lost. Combine that with the fact that I multi task while watching television, not a good combination. So please do not expect much from this week, still working the kinks out. I have added a rating for each episode based on a * to ***** system, including halves. Onto the Diary.

Sunday 3/27.

• King of the Hill. Not sure why I still watch this as I have never really cared for it. *.5
• Malcolm in the Middle. I remember this as being a decent episode in a subpar season, the end is near. **.5
• Arrested Development. I don't remember much of the episode, but it is always funny, and we do get a cameo from Ben Stiller. ***
• Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Don't remember a thing.
• Crossing Jordan. Decent episode, features Jerry O'Connell's brother Charlie, and the discovery of a mass grave. **.5
• Desperate Housewives. Finally a new episode, this show definitely falls under the header guilty pleasure. ***
• Grey's Anatomy. Debut episode, I thought it was pretty good. A more serious alternative to Scrubs. **.5

Monday 3/28.

• WWE: Raw. The build to Wrestlemania continues. **.5
• Las Vegas. This was fun, watching a blackjack player beating the house on an electronic table, while Sam looks for a new leisure suit. ***
• Medium. A killer is executed and keeps on killing, a bit dull. **
• 24. This season just keeps going, quite possibly the best since the first. Players keep getting moved into position setting up next week which is bulled as everything changes.***.5

Tuesday 3/29.

• Veronica Mars. The joys of schools stealing rival mascots. This is a very good series. ***
• House. This show has been a surprise, this one has the continuing drama of who is getting fired, and another bizarre medical case involving a young overweight girl. ***
• Scrubs. Great show gets no respect. Turk and Carla are having troubles while JD tries to cheer him up. ***.5
• The Office. Suffered a big ratings drop, but continues to be funny, I think it is good pair with Scrubs. This one has a funny meeting about tolerance. ***
• Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. I liked this one about a mother accusing her daughters boyfriend of rape and the twisted turn it takes. My favorite L&O series. ***
• Blind Justice. Our hero faces off with his former partner in a good episode. This series is growing on me. ***

Wednesday 3/30.

• That 70's Show. Better than other recent eps, but am glad it is almost over. **.5
• Life on a Stick. I'll be surprised if this lasts, but I'd be lying if I didn't get a bizarre kick out of it. ***
• Law & Order. Twisted show about a so-called religious cult which features the sexual abuse of children. I still miss Jerry Orbach. **.5
• South Park. Already cashing in on the Terry Schiavo issue, this episode gets digs in on both sides, while also targeting Sony and using the same framework as The Last Starfighter. ***.5
• Lost. Finally a new episode. Very good one as well focusing on the past of Locke. ****
• Alias. Rips of a bit from Kill Bill Vol. 2, but I'll forgive them. Marshall gets to play hero while everyone else is locked up at headquarters. ***
• Eyes. Debut of the new Tim Daly series, and I liked it. It is flashy and glossy and rather fun. ***

Thursday 3/31.

• WWE Smackdown. Decent last minute buildup to Wrestlemania. ***
• Tru Calling. I'm glad to see this back on the screen, I thought this was getting good towards the end of the first season. Then season two was canned before airing, let us thank the collapse of Point Pleasant. ***
• CSI. My interest in the series has waned, but I still like it, better than the weak spinoffs. This one has two cases which form one involving a burn victim and a triple murder. ***

Friday 4/1.

• Joan of Arcadia. I had given up on this months ago, I thought the preachiness of the series was getting a bit out of control. Season 1 was excellent, but this one not so. Anyway, this one coincided with a time I could watch again, and it turned out to be better than those at the beginning of the year. ***
• Battlestar Galactica. Season finale of a surprising reimagining. This has been a great sci-fi show. This finale returns Starbuck on a secret mission to Caprica, an undercover Cylon Boomer is sent to destroy a Battle Station, and a military coup in the remaining fleet takes place. Great stuff. ****
• Law & Order: Trial by Jury. Still making up my mind if I like this show or not, but this one was decent, dealing with an accused celebrity murder. **.5
