July Poll: There are too many_______ at the movies.

  • Noisy patrons 16.7% 2
  • Bad movies 25% 3
  • Commercials/Trailers 33.3% 4

Again, a small sample. I apologize to all of you for that. Please give me a hand, jump in, let your voice be heard! Who knows, perhaps someone who can initiate change will see this and be inspired.

I was surprised to see no one bothered by the plethora of sequels hitting theaters. Personally, they don't bother me much, sometimes I rather like them. On the other hand, a quarter of you think there are too many remakes, again, they don't bother me much. Actually some of them are quite entertaining.

Now here is the thing that bothers me most, noisy patrons. Nothing drives me nuts like those noisy people. It doesn't matter if they are noisy eaters, or those who make inappropriate timed comments, or the worst, those who have conversations and talk on their cell phones. It isn't cheap to go to the movies, the last thing I need is to deal with rude people.

Bad movies seems to be another concern, and judging the box office of recent big budget films, like Stealth, it appears that you have already started voting with your wallets. I applaud that.

The biggest concern, at least based on this minuscule sample, are the commercials and trailers. Some theaters have really gotten out of hand. There was a chain that used to be in my area, where it wasn't uncommon to see 20-30 minutes of trailers before the movie started. They have since been bought out, and now top out around 15 minutes. 15 minutes is about the limits that I can take, but by the same token, I like trailers, I like seeing what is coming up, especially if it is something I was unaware of.

That is all.
