The Trailer Park: The Corpse Bride

12 years later Tim Burton has returned to the stop motion world that he first entered as a writer and producer with The Nightmare Before Christmas. This time around he is sitting in the director's chair. Hopefully the results will be just as magical. I missed Nightmare in theaters, I won't make that mistake with The Corpse Bride.

The trailer makes the film look like a lot of fun, of course that is the purpose of a trailer. But I digress, back to the case at hand. We follow a young man as he prepares to marry a young woman he has just met. As cold feet set in, he flees the scene and puts the ring on what looks like a branch, but turns out to be a bony finger of a corpse. He know seems to be married to the skeletal remains of a bride, The Corpse Bride.

The style is similar to his prior stop motion excursion. The characters have a tall, spindly appearance, and the colors are primarily muted with a grayish feel. In addition to the great looking animation, and the imagination of Tim Burton, he is joined by frequent musical collaborator Danny Elfman. Elfman and Burton always seem to be a perfect fit. In addition to that, there is a wonderful array of voice actors, including Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Watson, Tracy Ullman, Albert Finney, Christopher Lee, Deep Roy, and Danny Elfman.

I may be getting my hopes up too high, but I am really looking forward to this.

You can see the trailer HERE.
