Wow. That was my reaction to seeing this trailer, and I couldn't understand a single word of it. It is a short computer animated film from Japan which evokes the feel of the old man in suit style monster films from the 1950's and 1960's.The trailer for Negadon: Monster from Mars has everything you need to get a kaiju fan excited. Mysterious explosions in space, destruction on a massive scale, ineffective military, a scientist with mechanical countermeasures. The story involves a future where the Earth has turned to a Mars based terraforming project to alleviate overpopulation. But it isn't without it's problems, a ship crashes which awakens Negadon, who then moves to take out it's frustrations on Earth. A scientist specializing in robotics has created a giant robot to combat the menace. The battle for Earth commences.
The animation quality is excellent. There was obviously a lot of work put into the creation of this. They did a wonderful job of taking us back to the early days of the monster movie. Man, this looks cool. I can only hope that when it becomes available that it will have English subtitles. The trailer looks great, I can only imagine what the finished product looks like.
