28 Weeks Later. (2007, 91 minutes, R, horror, trailer) In 28 Days Later a virus was unleashed that turned its victims into a flesh desiring creatures intent on killing. Great Britain was put on lockdown in order to keep it from spreading to the world. It is now six months later, the virus has run its course and it is now time to repopulate the island. It turns out that the virus isn't gone, and the fun is about to begin again. Danny Boyle produced this sequel, directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and it looks fantastic. It stars Robert Carlysle, and I cannot wait to see this!
Delta Farce. (2007, 90 minutes, PG-13, comedy, trailer) Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, and DJ Qualls invade Mexico! Much comedy ensues. You see, the three vacationing friends, are mistaken for Army reservists and dispatched to Iraq, storms cause the flight to dump equipment, in which sleep the three heroes. Believeing they are in Iraq they set out to do their duty. Much comedy ensues! I cannot say that this looks all that interesting.
The Ex. (2007, 92 minutes, PG-13, comedy, trailer) When I first saw the trailer for this, which wasn't all that long ago, I knew I had to see it. I have no idea if it will be good or not, but the pairing of Zach Braff and Jason Bateman looks like a stroke of genius. Braff is married to Amanda Peet, they meet Bateman, who happens to be Peet's ex, and comedy ensues! All I can say is that it looks very funny. Not quite sure what the surrounding story is, but The cast looks very good. Jesse Peretz directed the comedy, and I hope that it is good.
Georgia Rule. (2007, 113 minutes, PG-13, comedy, trailer) Haven't seen much about this one, but it has an interesting trio of leads in Jane Fonda, Felicity Huffman, and Lindsay Lohan. They play three generations of family, Lohan is the wild child, Huffman is her mother who can't control her, and Fonda is the family matriarch who lays down the rule as Georgia of the title. I cannot say that I find the commercials all that intriguing, but it could turn out better than I expect. Garry Marshall, who last directed Raising Helen, was at the helm.

Box Office Predictions
It set records last week, but word of mouth has presumably gotten out, which is mediocre at best and it has pulled up short on its weekday projections. It is still taking in loads of cash, yet does not exhibit the same sort of legs that its predecessor or Pirates 2 did. What does that bode for this wekend? A precipitous fall to the bottom of the pile? No, more likely a drop in the range of 60%, which will leave it firmly ahead of the competiton this weekend. This will give it its best shot at the dollar before the next blockbuster hits next week, Shrek the Third. This week's offerings do not look to pose much of a threat to out top performer. 28 Days Later looks to be the best potential former of the bunch, pulling good early reviews. It is being pushed much harder than its predecessor, opening on considerably more screens with hopes to outperform the original's $10 million opening.
