Here is an interesting development. Co-creater of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has let it be known that a live action film could be coming down the pipe. There is truth behind the rumor that talks have been had with Warner Brothers about "re-inventing" the Turtles as a live action film. This is being reported at Superhero Hype.
I am not sure how I feel about this. I am a Turtle fan from way back. Well, as far back as the original cartoon (I missed the original comic book run). I loved the cartoon, and I really enjoyed the first live action film, I thought they did a pretty good job of handling the suits and animatronics. That said, the CGI film from 2007 is probably the best vision yet, aside from the original that I have't read. The animated film had some darkness to it, while containing plenty of humor and action.
With the level of special effects technology that exists today, as opposed to 1990, I think they could do a fine job bringing them to believable life. The problem will be finding the right story to tell. You know, I'd be up for checking it out if it happens.
