The next two films were last weekend's top two shifted down a peg. First is Fast & Furious, a film that opened huge last week and suffered a large, but expected, dip in its second weekend. The feature seems to be well on its way to becoming the biggest hit of the franchise, which has a fifth film already in the pipeline. It is followed by Monsters vs. Aliens, a movie that is doing well with families and is entertaining, but not nearly as good as I had hoped it would be.
Observe and Report finished fourth in its opening frame. The Seth Rogen comedy is vulgar, mean spirited, fitfully funny, but ultimately forgettable. I am equating the experience with that of Step Brothers from one year ago. It is definitely a movie that will make you laugh, but I am not sure it is a must see.
Fifth place is held by a movie that is surprising me with its legs. No, it s no outright blockbuster, but it is an intelligent, challenging film and I am glad to see it doing as well as it is. The movie is none other than Knowing, Alex Proyas comeback from his mainstream Hollywood foray of I, Robot.
Next up is the buddy bro-mance I Love You, Man. The comedy, starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segel, is very funny, seriously goofy, but no up to par with the likes of Segel's last film, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Still, it is one that is well worth the time.
The Haunting in Connecticut is doing surprisingly well. The haunted house tale is very atmospheric and is a film that I expect will rise in esteem as time passes. It may never make it all the way to classic status, but anyone looking for a good haunting would do well to check it out.
Eighth place is held by the debuting Dragonball: Evolution, a movie I suspect will not last long. Is not a bad movie, but it is a good stone's throw away from being a good movie. It has a short length and a focused story in its favor. It is worth taking a peek at by the curious, b don't feel there is a need to rush, the Blu-ray will be here soon.
Adventureland slips to ninth. This better than expected film seems to have landed with a thud and will probably do more business once it arrives on DVD. It is a fun and serious film that is not quite what it is advertised to be, which is not a bad thing.
Rounding out the top ten is Duplicity, a movie that has not had much of an impact, despite it star power. I have not seen the film and cannot attest to its quality. Does anyone have anything to say about it?
Next week will see the arrival of 17 Again with Matthew Perry and Zac Efron, Crank: High Voltage, which looks like an absolute trip, and State of Play starring Russell Crowe, Rachel McAdams, and Ben Affleck.
Three movies dropped off the top ten this week: Race to Witch Mountain (11), Sunshine Cleaning (12), and 12 Rounds (14).

Box Office Predictions Recap
It has been a pretty good holiday weekend. Even when I was off, I turned out to be pretty close. As expected Hannah Montana took the top spot and was a pretty big draw for the holiday weekend. I was not perfect this weekend, but overall I feel pretty good about it. My biggest gaffe had to be Observe and Report. That fell decent amount below what I was expecting, and having seen it I cannot see it climbing terribly high.
