Taking a steep near 70% drop, yet still taking the second slot is X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The Hugh Jackman comic-book actioner opened strong with an $85 million initial tally, but that slipped to $26.4 million. I expected it to do considerably better than that in its sophomore weekend, but I guess I should not be too surprised as the movie is not terribly good at all. It will be interesting to see if it levels off or if it continues its steep decline.
Third place is held by the Dickens inspired romantic comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. The film had a decent hold in its second weekend. I have not seen it and cannot say that I have any immediate plans to. I am sure it is perfectly fine, but it just looks rather generic.
Slipping to fourth place is another movie that I have not seen, only this time I am relatively certain I will not see it on purpose. The movie is Obsessed and I would feel better staying home with Fatal Attraction.
Fifth place is for yet another movie I have not seen, 17 Again. I am not sure if there has ever been a list with more movies that I have not seen. This, I could foresee myself watching at some point. It has gotten pretty good word and is doing fine at the box.
Next Day Air is sixth in its debut weekend. It is an interesting film that is not exactly what it is advertised as. Rather than a stoner comedy, we get a Tarantino/Ritchie inspired action comedy with everyone trying to get their hands on a bag of cocaine. It is interesting, just a little different than expected. Worth checking out.
The remainder of this weeks top ten is comprised of more holdovers as everything sort of settles down behind the oncoming blockbusters.
Next week only has one new film entering wide release. The film is Ron Howard's sequel to The DaVinci Code, Angels & Demons. Tom Hanks returns to the lead role for this new religiously themed thriller.
Two movies dropped off the top ten this week: Fighting (11) and State of Play (12).

Box Office Predictions Recap
Not a bad week for my guesses, I nailed the top three, the bottom two, and one in the middle. I was even able to get a few of the grosses in the correct general area. Although, I did a terrible job at guessing where Wolverine would do, I got the position, but it dropped a lot more than I was expecting. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, the movie is pretty bad.It will be interesting to see how fast it drops, and if Star Trek posts better returns in its second weekend.
