Reviews in Retrograde: Alien

Critical Outcast isn't my first attempt at a website, I had a few stutter steps in the late 1990's and early 2000's. These attempts generated a whole bunch of poorly written, often very short and spoilerific reviews. I recently stumbled upon them in my archives and thought you may be interested in seeing some of these early attempts at writing. They are as they were then, I make no apologies for how bad or how short they are. Feel free to have at them with reckless abandon! I present to you: Reviews in Retrograde.

Alien

On what should have been a trip back to Earth, the Nostromo, a mining freighter, is automatically re-routed to a desolate planet after receiving an SOS coming from it. After the crew is awakened, they investigate the source of the SOS, and discover a derelict alien ship on the planet. One of the crew members is put into a coma by an alien creature while investigating the ship. But the alien parasite dies and the crew think all is well. But the small ordeal was only a prelude for greater things to come...

Ridley Scott's creature classic. This movie helped to define what screen aliens would look like for years to come. I feel this film is horror at heart but is usually considered science fiction. This film also established Sigourney Weaver as an action star. This movie is terrifying as this creature tears through the crew of the salvage ship, Nostromo, on its way to a showdown with Weaver's character, Ellen Ripley.

Ridley Scott's horror masterpiece is a must see.
