Hudson Horror Show 666 Prepares to Unleash Hell!

It was sometime back in early 2010, I had stumbled across an article, I believe it was at Bloody Disgusting or perhaps Shock til ya Drop, that spoke of the original Evil Dead was going on tour. A 35mm print of the film was going to be making stops at various theaters around the country. I figured there was no way it would be anywhere near me, but it couldn't hurt to take a look at the schedule. Much to my surprise, I found it was coming to Poughkeepsie, NY, to play a something called The Hudson Horror Show. I was certainly excited at the prospect of seeing it on he big screen.

I looked into this Hudson Horror thing and found I was to be the first installment of an ongoing series of horror movie marathons. That first show was headlined by Evil Dead, but it was joined by the insane Pieces and the Lucio Fulci classic Zombie. It was lengthened won a collection of low budget shorts and some classic trailers.

It was a great day filled with horror. Not only did I get o see some great movies, but I also go to meet the awesome people behind the show and while I may not see them often, I like to call them friends. They are more than happy to talk horror films, past, present, and future, and just about whatever you want. These folks include Chris Alo, Tad Leger, Glenn Baisley, Marcos Conway, and Dan Deyo, among others.

Ever since that original show they have put on two shows a year, screening such films as Evil Dead 2, City of the Living Dead, Cannibal Holocaust, Return of the Living Dead, Phantasm, Silent Night, Deadly Night, Rolling Thunder, The Beyond, Alligator, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and many others.

The Hudson Horror Show regularly programs a series of films that run the gamut from popular horror classics, to lesser known cult horror, to exploitation flicks. Every show is a lot of fun with a roomful of like minded horror loving freaks, vendors, giveaways, trivia, and more. They also have not yet failed to have a movie in the lineup that I have no seen before, movies like Pieces and Rolling Thunder stand out to me.

Why am I telling you all about this? Well, the Hudson Horror crew are busy readying their sixth show, rounding out their third year of existence. It is sure to be a big one. They are always looking for ways to top themselves, and considering the last show was their first to sell out, it is going to be imperative that you get your tickets early.

If you are a fan of horror, this is a great opportunity to see classic movies on the big screen in 35mm, the way they were meant to be seen. Some of the prime are worn and marked up, but I tell you, they have so much personality. There is something tangible about film, something real, there is history there that you cannot take away or replicate digitally. These shows, my friends, are real treats to be savored, enjoyed, and treasured.

Hudson Horror 666 (as it is being called) is set to happen on December 1, 2012 and will feature a lineup of no less than six feature films. You know what six movies means, right? Plenty of classic trailers, that's what!

Here is the lineup for the show, actual order to be revealed closer to the show:

Conan the Barbarian

The Devil's Rain

Phantasm II

Switchblade Sisters - personal favorite of Quentin Tarantino

Reanimator

The sixth film is currently a secret until we get a lot closer to the show date.
